Medical review policy & editorial standards
How we develop, review, and maintain educational health content — and where the line sits between general information and medical advice.
Editorial standards
All educational content on WeightlessRx is written and edited to meet the following standards:
- Evidence-based. Claims are supported by peer-reviewed research, FDA-approved prescribing information, or recognized clinical guidelines (AACE, Endocrine Society, ADA, NIH).
- Source-cited. Where possible, primary sources are linked or referenced at the end of each article.
- Plain-language. Medical concepts are explained without jargon, while preserving clinical accuracy.
- Updated. Each article includes a "last updated" date. Content is reviewed at least quarterly and any time a referenced guideline is revised.
- Non-promotional. Educational content does not promote a specific brand-name product or substitute for clinician judgment.
Provider network oversight
WeightlessRx operates as a telehealth service that connects patients with a third-party network of independent, U.S.-licensed clinicians. The clinicians — not content authors — are responsible for evaluating intake submissions, prescribing or declining medication, adjusting dosing, and managing side effects. Each clinician practices under their state medical board, follows DEA and FDA prescribing rules, and maintains malpractice coverage. Treatment decisions are individualized to each patient.
Information vs. medical advice
The educational content on this site is for general information only. It does not establish a clinician–patient relationship, diagnose conditions, prescribe medications, or substitute for an evaluation by a licensed clinician. Treatment plans, dosing, and medical decisions are determined only after a qualified clinician in our provider network reviews your specific medical history.
Compounded medication standards
WeightlessRx prescriptions are dispensed by licensed U.S. compounding pharmacies operating under FDA Section 503A or 503B oversight, state board of pharmacy licensure, and applicable USP standards (USP 795, 797, 800). Compounded medications are not FDA-reviewed for safety, quality, or efficacy in the way brand-name products are. Patients should weigh this distinction with their clinician.
